Grand Blue Story Bosses Overview

While World Bosses require coordinated server-wide raids, Story Bosses are instanced or island-based encounters tied directly to your character’s progression. Defeating them unlocks new island sea routes, exclusive accessory gear, and massive EXP drops.

1. Axe-Hand Morgan (Anchor Town Boss)

Axe-Hand Morgan commands the Marine garrison outpost in Anchor Town. He serves as the first major mechanical test of a player’s ability to parry and manage stamina.

Encounter Details

• Location: Inner Courtyard of the Anchor Town Marine Fortress
• Recommended Build: Level 15+, Brawler or Novice Swordsman with Cutlass
• Respawn Interval: Approximately 3 to 5 minutes after defeat

Attack Patterns & Telegraphs

1. Guillotine Cleave: Morgan raises his massive axe arm high above his head with a red glint indicator, slamming it downward with immense force. This attack instantly breaks standard blocks.
2. Horizontal Cleaver Sweep: A wide 180-degree sweep aimed at knocking back melee attackers.
3. Marine Reinforcements: At 50% health, Morgan blows a command whistle to summon two Marine Captain adds to flank you.

Tactical Strategy

• Punish the Ground Lock: When Morgan executes Guillotine Cleave, dodge sideways rather than backward. His axe blade gets lodged into the cobblestone ground for 1.5 seconds. Unleash your full combo string during this recovery animation.
• Clear the Adds First: When the two Marine Captains spawn, disengage from Morgan and burst them down using your Cursed Fruit skills (such as Spike or Bomb) before resuming focus on the boss.

2. Buggy the Clown (Clown Town Boss)

Special Mechanic: Bladed Weapon Immunity

[!WARNING] Because Buggy possesses the canonical Chop Fruit, standard light and heavy sword slashes from weapons like the Cutlass, Willow Blade, and Katana deal 0 damage. You must rely on Fighting Styles (Brawler punches), Ranged Marksman shots, or supernatural Cursed Fruit abilities to hurt him.

Attack Patterns & Phases

1. Chop-Chop Limb Separation: Buggy detaches his gloved hands and boots, sending them flying around the arena to attack players from behind while his torso floats above.
2. Muggy Cannonball Barrage: Buggy tosses three explosive miniature cannonballs in a spread pattern. On impact, they create fiery explosions that inflict burning damage over time.
3. Spinning Dagger Flight: Buggy’s torso spins rapidly while holding circus knives, turning him into a mobile buzzsaw that circles the perimeter of the circus ring.

Tactical Strategy

• Focus the Floating Torso: When his limbs detach, do not waste stamina chasing his floating fists. Target his central torso, which has reduced defense during the separation phase.
• Maintain Vertical Distance: If you have the Skyfolk race, use aerial gliding to hover above his Muggy Cannonballs and rain down spells like Flame Pillar or Dark Vortex.
