Grand Blue Fighting Styles Overview

Fighting Styles represent your character’s foundational martial arts and technique movesets in Grand Blue. Unlike weapons and Cursed Fruits, fighting styles dictate your unarmed light attack chains, combo finishers, and tactical crowd-control skills.

1. Brawler (Starter Melee)

• Trainer: Brawler Trainer
• Location: Anchor Town docks, standing immediately to the right of the shipwright vendor.
• Cost: 250 G
• Requirements: Level 1+

Combat Moveset & Mechanics

Brawler delivers rapid 4-hit punch combinations followed by a forward lunging strike that breaks weak enemy blocks. It requires minimal stamina, making it the most reliable early-game style for clearing Marine recruits outside Anchor Town.

2. Novice Swordsman (Starter Bladed)

• Location: Anchor Town cliffs, positioned by the tranquil freshwater pond behind the village farms.

• Requirements: Level 5+

Combat Moveset & Mechanics

Novice Swordsman introduces basic blade forms. Its signature move is a quick forward iaido-style slash that passes through enemies and inflicts brief bleed ticks. While usable unarmed, its damage scales significantly when paired with an equipped weapon like the Cutlass or Katana.

  • Races: Long-Arm (enables you to strike enemies outside their melee retaliation radius).
  • Fruits: Chop Fruit (grants complete immunity to enemy bladed attacks, turning sword duels into one-sided victories).

3. Trickster (Secret Skirmisher Style)

Trickster is a specialized utility style that disorients opponents in both PvE boss fights and open-world PvP duels. It is not sold by default vendors; you must complete a multi-island secret quest chain.

1. Meet Loki in Anchor Town: Locate Loki lingering near the Anchor Town pier warehouse. He hints at a treasure hoarder who stole his technique manuals.
2. Defeat Boss Afuaru the Hoarder: Track Afuaru to his hideout. Defeat him to drop two mandatory quest items: the Pickpocket Skill Book and the Pocket Sand Skill Book.
3. Consume Both Skill Books: Open your inventory and use both books to learn the basic standalone skills.
4. Locate Loki at Clown Town: Sail to Clown Town and search the amusement park grounds near the giant Ferris wheel. Loki will be waiting under the tent awning.
5. Complete Loki’s Training Tasks: Demonstrate your mastery by using Pocket Sand to blind Clown Officers and Pickpocket to loot quest tokens.
6. Finalize Payment: Pay Loki 1,000 G to unlock the complete Trickster Fighting Style.
7. Equip at the Wardrobe: Interact with any Wardrobe in Clown Town or Anchor Town to activate Trickster on your character.

Signature Trickster Skills

• Pocket Sand: Flings abrasive sand in a frontal cone. Blinds enemy players and PvE bosses for 2.5 seconds, causing their attacks to miss and obscuring player camera views.
• Pickpocket: A swift dash that steals small amounts of G or consumables while interrupting enemy spellcasting animations.

4. Marksman (Ranged Artillery)

• Trainer: Captain Esopo
• Location: Maple Village, perched on the rocky slope directly behind the village perimeter.
• Cost: 1,000 G
• Requirements: Level 70+

Combat Moveset & Mechanics

Marksman transitions your character into a long-range artillery specialist. Equipped with slingshot and rifle mechanics, it offers charged piercing headshots and explosive scattershot rounds that deal massive area damage to tightly packed mob groups.

  • Races: Skyfolk (leverage aerial gliding to snipe bosses from elevations where melee attacks cannot reach you).
  • Fruits: Cannon Fruit (stacks dual artillery firepower for maximum sustained DPS).

The Wardrobe System: How to Swap Styles

Unlike Cursed Fruits, which require specific removal or overwrite steps, Grand Blue lets you retain every fighting style you have ever purchased.

To swap styles:

1. Locate any Wardrobe furniture piece inside town inns, safe houses, or character customization mirrors.
2. Press E to interact with the Wardrobe.
3. Select your desired fighting style from the list of learned styles.
4. Confirm to equip it immediately with all previously unlocked masteries intact.
